About Me
My name is Alexander Portnyagin.
Hello and welcome!
I discovered my passion for watercolor painting in 2017, during a quiet period when my wife and son were away on vacation. With time on my hands, I decided to explore something creative and ordered watercolor paper and paints online.
When they arrived, I began my journey by painting my first piece, inspired by browsing my photo collection.
One of the most exciting yet challenging aspects of painting for me is selecting a scene. I am particularly drawn to landscapes, cityscapes, and moments featuring human figures—scenes that tell a little story captured through the lens of my phone. These subjects allow me to bring everyday moments to life through my art.
As a self-taught artist, my skills have been shaped entirely by personal exploration and practice. While watercolor is my primary medium, I also enjoy experimenting with acrylic paints, which bring a different texture and vibrancy to my work.
My art journey has included one memorable exhibition. On November 16, 2019, I showcased my work at the Kings Bay Library Community Room in New York. This experience marked a significant milestone in my artistic career and inspired me to continue sharing my passion with others.
I moved to Houston, where I continue to paint and explore new creative horizons.
Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to learn about my artistic journey. I hope my work resonates with you, and I look forward to sharing more creations. Please feel free to reach out and connect!
Warmly,
Alex Port
